Hasan Hasanli Speaks at the “Education as Adaptation and Ambition: A New Approach to Environmental Education” Event
On November 13, as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, an event titled “Education as Adaptation and Ambition: A New Approach to Environmental Education” was held.
The event focused on the role of education in the fight against climate change, emphasizing the importance of sustainable development and addressing environmental issues through education.
In his address, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli highlighted the significant role of education in combating climate change. He noted that in recent years, special attention has been given to integrating climate and environmental topics into Azerbaijan’s education system, aimed at fostering students’ contributions to environmental issues and sustainability. The successful implementation of STEAM education in Azerbaijan allows students to work on real projects related to green energy, sustainability, and new technologies.
Hasan Hasanli stressed the importance of developing teachers’ professional skills to effectively teach climate change topics within the educational process.
The Deputy Minister also noted that research on climate solutions is being promoted in higher education, and discussions on sustainability will continue as part of COP29.
