A Night to Remember: Honoring Excellence and Innovation at Quinnipiac’s School of Computing & Engineering
What a night of celebration, pride, and inspiration! On Friday, April 11th, the Quinnipiac University School of Computing and Engineering hosted its first-ever Graduate Student Recognition Event, and the energy in the room was electric. This unforgettable evening brought together faculty, students, and special guests to shine a spotlight on the brilliant minds driving innovation and academic excellence in the university’s graduate programs.
Among the evening’s highlights was a truly exceptional recognition of Yusuf Usman, who received not just one—but two—prestigious awards:
The Faculty Award for Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity, honoring his unwavering commitment to academic distinction and contribution to the cybersecurity program.
The Inaugural Excellence in Research Award, acknowledging his groundbreaking research, prolific publication record, and outstanding conference presentations—two of which earned Best Presentation Awards at IEEE conferences.
These honors speak volumes about Yusuf’s leadership, vision, and impact—not only at Quinnipiac but in the broader cybersecurity research community.
Other outstanding graduate students from the Computer Science MS program were also celebrated for their academic achievements, leadership, and service. Their contributions reflect the vibrant intellectual spirit and collaborative ethos that define the School of Computing and Engineering.
With professors, deans, and students gathered—including Dr. Taskin Kocak (Dean of the School), Prof. Frederick Scholl, (MS Cybersecurity Program Director) and many others—it was an evening filled with warm congratulations, inspiring stories, and a powerful sense of community.
