In 2024, young Azerbaijani filmmaker Vugar Tahirov unveiled his second short documentary of the year, “Beyond Home.” This powerful and heartfelt film, produced by Echoes Film, follows the extraordinary journey of Farid Bayramli, a determined young man from Lankaran, Azerbaijan, as he arrives in the United States with dreams of becoming a professional soccer coach.
“Beyond Home” offers an intimate look at Farid’s quest for a new life and career in a foreign land. Arriving in the USA in 2023, Farid aspires to leave a lasting mark on American soccer. The documentary captures his struggles and triumphs as he navigates the challenges of adapting to a new culture, building a career from the ground up, and striving to achieve his ambitious goals. Despite being a new film, “Beyond Home” has already received positive reviews from various international film festivals. It has been a winner for Best Short Documentary at the New York International Film Award in New York City and a finalist for the Best Documentary at the Paris Play Film Festival. Additionally, the documentary won the Best Director award at the Crown Point International Film Festival in Chicago, USA, and both Best Director and Best Short Documentary at the Sundarban International Film Festival in Kolkata, India.

Born in Baku in 1993, Vugar Tahirov has worked on various art projects in different capacities since 2017. He has also achieved success at international film festivals with his other projects over the years, including the feature film “Don Marleone” (2017), “American Quarantine” (2020), short films “Fabric of Life” (2018), “Let Me Run” (2019), “Mo Better” (2023), “Sidewalk Stories” (2024), the animated film “Shadowless People” (2022), and music videos “Fade” (2024) and “Morning Sun” (2024).
