Elmar Bayramov and Old Stone Film: A Journey of Creative Excellence
Elmar Bayramov was born in 1986 in the city of Lankaran, Azerbaijan. In 2006, he moved to Baku to pursue higher education and engage in activities within the Capoeira Federation. His passion for storytelling led him to establish the Black Garden Company film production studio in 2013, where he began writing scripts for social advertisements. Over time, Bayramov transitioned into directing, producing the projects he initially conceptualized.
In 2017, the early screening of his film Don Marleoni in Baku cinemas was abruptly halted, prompting Elmar Bayramov to relocate to the United States with his family in May of that year. In 2018, he founded Old Stone Film, a production company based in the United States. To introduce his team to the industry, Bayramov directed the short film Oops in 2018, which went on to win the “Best Fight Scene” award at the prestigious Urban Action Film Festival in New York.
The following year, in 2019, Bayramov produced the film Let Me Run, which was showcased at over 20 international film festivals, winning multiple awards across various categories. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, he continued his prolific output, producing films such as American Quarantine, Ladybug, and the documentaries Rafa and Mo Better. His work during this period also included Rhythm of God and The Breath.
Elmar Bayramov is recognized as a director who skillfully balances artistic integrity with commercial viability in his film productions. A recurring theme in his work is the exploration of contemporary societal issues, as reflected in the stories he tells. His latest film, The Breath, has been presented in major cities like The Hague, New York, and Baku. The film poignantly portrays the negative impacts of war on individuals, blending animation with classic film techniques—a bold and innovative approach. Through this experimental narrative, Bayramov successfully conveys the internal struggles of his protagonist, with each scene transitioning seamlessly into the next, demonstrating his mastery of the medium.
Currently, Elmar Bayramov continues to lead Old Stone Film, providing video and film production services in New York and surrounding areas. His journey from Azerbaijan to the international film stage is a testament to his unwavering dedication to the craft of filmmaking.
