PLACES OF WORSHIP FOR NON-MUSLIMS IN ABU DHABI PROVIDE FINANCIAL AND VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS TO HELP THE COMMUNITY

‘TOGETHER WE ARE GOOD’ PROGRAMME

A number of places of worship in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi have contributed to the ‘Together We Are Good’ programme from the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an by providing financial and voluntary contributions. The aim of those participating in this national effort is to support the community as it faces the current health and economic challenges and combine efforts by all members of society as part of its collective social responsibility.

H.E, Sultan Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of Community Engagement and Sport Sector at the Department of Community Development, said that the great solidarity and unity that we see from the places of worship in Abu Dhabi, in the current situation, demonstrates the great efforts of the UAE in making it an attractive environment for all races and religions, emphasizing Abu Dhabi’s role in global tolerance.

His Excellency added: “We value the great efforts of everyone who contributed and supported the ‘Together We Are Good’ programme, which reflects the importance of social responsibility to all communities in different places of worship, and provides opportunities of contribution and cooperation to stand up to the challenges that we face.”

Shaji Varghese, spokespersons for the BCA church, said: “In times of crisis, it is imperative that we come together as one community and do everything we can to win this battle against the current health and economic situation. The entire Brethren Christian Assembly is with the nation and we urge all members of our church to make a contribution no matter how big or small it is.

“We hope to play a role in Ma’an’s ‘Together We Are Good’ mission to bolster hospital capacity, support frontline workers and promote solidarity with those who are most vulnerable. Each one of us has the responsibility to join efforts in combatting this situation. We will get through this difficult time together with kindness, love, and the strength that the UAE is known for.”

The “Together We Are Good’ programme is the first project of Ma’an’s Social Fund that was launched to provide the community with a channel to support Abu Dhabi Government’s efforts and address the current health and economic challenges. The programme stimulates social responsibility through opening the door for financial and in-kind contributions from individuals and companies.
