Royal Family Fortune: How Rich are Queen Elizabeth and the British Royal Family Really?

The British royal family makes millions every year, and their fortunes have more zeros than can be counted. But how much of it is really theirs?

Royal Family: The fortunes of the Queen and the British Royal Family

The Firm, as the British royal family is called, is a company whose value amounts to the equivalent of more than 23.5 billion euros. All thanks to the royal possessions, which range from jewels and paintings to castles – and the value of what the monarchy creates with its image (many tourists visit England primarily for them).

However, these billions do not belong to the British royal family – or at least not all of them. But that does not mean that not every member also has their own private business and assets.

Queen Elizabeth II fortune

For example, according to Forbes magazine, the Royal Family receives 25 percent of what The Crown Estate, the institution that manages the Crown’s money and property, makes. In 2020, the company made a profit of almost 420 million euros, of which the family received a good 100 million euros, which will be used for official business.

In addition, there are the personal investments and possessions of the queen (which are not tied to the crown, but belong to the country). It is estimated that Queen Elizabeth II has a combined private fortune of 420 million euros thanks to investments, jewels and a few private castles, including the legendary Balmoral Castle.

Prince Charles, in turn, receives € 25 million from the Duchy of Cornwall on top of his share of the state’s annual payment (around € 2 million). However, some of this is used to pay employees, some goes to Charles’ children, and some is also used to support various foundations, including the Prince’s Trust.

How rich are Prince William and Harry?

In 2020, William, Duke of Cambridge and heir to the throne, received part of the 7 million euros that he and his brother Harry of the Duchy of Cornwall, i.e. his father, are entitled to. In addition, he inherited around 17 million euros from his mother, so that his estimated net worth is currently around 25 million dollars.

And even if Harry is no longer part of the British royal family, his fortune has not decreased as a result, in fact it has grown. He no longer receives his father’s money, but he and Meghan Markle signed a $ 100 million deal with Netflix and a $ 30 million deal with Spotify. At least financially, he did not emerge as a loser from the separation.
