HY-C Donation supports American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign with $25,000 donation

(July 1, 2020 – St. Louis, Missouri) — HY-C Company, a St. Louis, Missouri manufacturer, has donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign. The campaign helps ‘Sound the Alarm’ and saves lives by educating families how to prevent and safely escape from a home fire and by providing free smoke alarms to those who need them.

“We are extremely grateful for our partnership with HY-C Company in St. Louis,” Cindy Erickson, CEO, American Red Cross of Missouri and Arkansas. “HY-C’s willingness to financially support the important mission of the Red Cross allows us to install more smoke alarms and continue to educate residents on fire prevention and safety. Understanding the basics of home fire safety can be the difference between life and death.”

Every day an average of seven people in the United States die in home fires. Children and the elderly are disproportionate victims. Individuals typically have as little as two minutes to escape a home fire. In five years, through the Home Fire Campaign, volunteers and partners have helped install more than 1.9 million smoke alarms across the U.S., helped families create home fire escape plans, and provided fire prevention and safety education in at-risk neighborhoods across the nation.

The HY-C Company’s donation came from a percentage of sales of LintEater and SootEater rotary cleaning products. The LintEater and SootEater enable homeowners to guard against home fires, and ensure the safety of their dryers, fireplaces, woodstoves, and pellet stoves, with routine rotary cleaning.

“Through our partnership with the American Red Cross Sound the Alarm Campaign we are improving people’s lives and the lives of their homes,” said Brian Jacobson, Director of Sales of HY-C Company. “Together we are driving awareness, promoting safety, and delivering comfort and peace of mind with our proven solutions to potentially horrific dangers within the home.  We look forward to our continued partnership in 2021.”

“More than 100 HY-C employees are excited to support the American Red Cross,” says David Walters, President of HY-C Company. “We all appreciate the incredible work the Red Cross does in helping many in our local communities, and well beyond Missouri’s borders, avoid some of the 2,900 devastating home dryer fires each year. The American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign efforts continue to make a difference for Americans!”
