Switching from QuickBooks Desktop to Online: QuickBooks Online’s limitations and a migration service that is guaranteed to sustain

Brandon, MB, 25th September 2021, ZEXPRWIRE The biggest difference between these QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop is that QuickBooks Online is cloud-based while QuickBooks Desktop is downloaded and installed on a computer, which also means that the software cannot be accessed remotely without an extra fee.

In preparation for a switch to QuickBooks Online, E-Tech’s John Rocha throws light on a few stipulations prior to doing so. QuickBooks Online does not support the multicurrency feature and in terms of size, the QuickBooks Desktop file must contain less than 350,000 targets.

If a file exceeds the size limit, the file would need to be condensed in order to successfully export it to QuickBooks Online. The audit trail of previously entered transactions does not convert from Desktop to Online, although QuickBooks Online has its own automatic Audit Log with a detailed audit trail of every transaction that is added or changed.

When moving from QuickBooks Desktop to Online, users would not be able to upload data to the QBO servers themselves and would have to create company files to send them to QB and have them loaded.

On the downside, it is important to remember that Credit Card charges are converted into an Expense and bill payments made by credit cards are converted to bill payments. QuickBooks Online also currently doesn’t support custom fields on customers, suppliers, employees or items, so these remain unconverted. The QuickBooks Online basic plan doesn’t include payroll functionality.

Switching to QuickBooks Online is an exclusive service offered by E-Tech. E-Tech will remove the audit trail, optimize and condense the data file so it is within the limits to be exported to QuickBooks Online. The service will copy all data into a brand new data file and will remove any corruption or data errors from the file to make for a smooth transition.
