Wego vs Skyscanner: Which App Finds Cheaper Flights?
When travelers hunt for airfare, two platforms dominate global searches: Wego and Skyscanner. Both promise the lowest fares, but which actually delivers? A new analysis of close to a hundred routes across major markets reveals how the two compare.
Methodology
To ensure a fair comparison, we ran like‑for‑like price checks by searching the same origin–destination–date pairs, selected at random, on Wego and Skyscanner within the same 15‑minute window. All searches were conducted from the same location and IP address, using a fresh session (incognito mode with cleared cookies). Settings were identical: Economy class, one adult passenger, no flexible dates, and prices are as displayed by each site.
Sponsored placements and obvious glitches were excluded. For each route and date, we recorded the lowest publicly displayed price for the same itinerary. A route was counted as a “win” for the platform with the cheaper fare, while price differences of 1% or less were treated as ties to account for rounding and momentary fare changes.
Middle East & Asia
In Middle Eastern and Asian markets, Wego frequently takes the lead:
-
Egypt, Oman, and Turkey: Wego offered cheaper fares on every route tested (7 out of 7 each), including a 56% saving on Jeddah–Istanbul.
-
India: Wego won six out of seven routes, with only Delhi–Kolkata slightly favoring Skyscanner.
-
Malaysia and Jordan: Wego led on five of seven routes in each market.
-
Saudi Arabia: Close call, with Wego turning out cheaper flights on 4 routes, Skyscanner on 3 routes out of 7 routes in total.
Route check: Jeddah–Kuala Lumpur (Oct 31)
Wego listed a Malaysia Airlines direct flight at $506, compared with Skyscanner’s $520.
Europe & North America
In Europe and North America, the competition is closer, but Wego proves it can hold its ground:
Route check: Berlin–Toronto (Nov 15)
Both platforms listed the same British Airways flight at $345. Wego showed 234 results, while Skyscanner surfaced 494. Pricing was identical, but Wego’s streamlined results still gave travelers solid options without clutter.
Route check: Paris–Athens (Dec 6)
For the same Aegean Airlines direct flight, Wego listed $126, while Skyscanner showed it at $128.
Route check: Los Angeles–Toronto (Nov 15)
The same Air Canada flight appeared at $115 on Wego versus $118 on Skyscanner. The difference is small, but Wego displayed 306 results, more than double Skyscanner’s 149, once again highlighting a stronger breadth of schedules.
Route check: New York–Bangkok (Dec 28)
On the same American Airlines flight (operated by Qatar Airways), Wego found a fare of $753 versus Skyscanner’s $916, a difference of $163, or about 18%.
Route check: Amsterdam–Dubai (Oct 27)
On the same direct Transavia flight, Wego found a fare of $398 versus Skyscanner’s $412, a difference of $14, or about 3.4%.

What It Means for Travelers
Travelers flying from the Middle East or Asia may find better deals on Wego, while in Europe and North America, Wego matches Skyscanner and frequently shows more options.
For passengers, the lesson is clear: compare before you book. Price is important, but the range of schedules and airlines can make just as much difference when planning a trip.
