Dr. Jon Wilhelm, a chiropractor in southwest Montana with nearly twenty years of practicing experience, is appointed as Chair of the International Sports Chiropractic Federation Student Commission

Bozeman, MT, 22nd June 2022, ZEXPRWIRE, The International Sports Chiropractic Federation’s, or FICS, goal is to provide equal opportunities of sports chiropractic care, education, mentoring and research to all athletes and sports chiropractors locally and internationally. The council is made up of the top leading chiropractors not only in the United States but in the world. The Student Commission branch is in charge of creating opportunities  or chiropractic students who would like to be involved in national and international sports chiropractic. The FICS Student Commission does many different things; all involving education and student affairs such as scholarships, learning opportunities, mentoring and clubs.

Dr. Wilhelm was chosen to lead the FICS Student Commission because of his wide array of experience as a sports chiropractic physician treating athletes, combined with his long track record of mentorship to chiropractic students and those newly entering the profession. He has also been chosen to work as part of sports medicine teams at multiple World Cup and World Championship level events, and two Olympic Games, with Team USA and Team Great Britain. He has provided sports chiropractic services for USA Gymnastics, USA Track and Field and USA Bobsled Skeleton teams, and a host of other international athletes, teams and sports. Dr. WIlhelm has lectured to hundreds of chiropractic students around the world both live and remotely. At his Pro Chiropractic clinics, he regularly provides educational internship opportunities to prospective and current chiropractic students, and he has inspired over a dozen young chiropractors to choose chiropractic as their profession. Dr. Wilhelm’s exceptional commitment to serving athletes and students attracted FICS to pick him out of hundreds of other sports chiropractors to run their Student Commission.

First Vice President of FICS, Martin Isaksson of Sweden says in a welcome to Dr. Wilhelm, “I am excited to announce the appointment of Dr Jon Wilhelm as the Student Commission Chair. Jon will be joining us in (Barcelona) Spain, with Dr Gillian Johnston as part of the student commission handover. We are super excited about this appointment as we move into the next three-year strategic plan. We welcome Jon to the Commission Chair position and look forward to working with him to support the growth of the student commission.” The FICS Student Commission is excited to have Dr. Wilhelm as their new chair because of his extensive knowledge and experience in the field of sports chiropractic. He has been a practicing chiropractor for almost twenty years and has worked with athletes of all levels, from high school students to Olympians. Dr. Wilhelm is passionate about mentoring future generations of sports chiropractors and helping them reach their full potential just as other chiropractors helped get him to where he is now. He believes that giving back to the community that helped him so much is important to keep the next generation of sports chiropractors educated and excited to help athletes achieve their best.

The Student Commission is looking forward to working under Dr. Wilhelm’s leadership in order to continue providing opportunities and mentorship for all student athletes and sports chiropractors globally. However, the FICS Student Commission is not only about mentoring future sports chiropractors. Dr. Wilhelm will also oversee FICS Student Scholarships and Awards, allowing outstanding students from all over the globe to get the chance to have their education partly or fully paid for. He believes that education should not only be for the wealthy and affluent, but for everyone that has a passion for learning about sports chiropractic. Dr. Wilhelm and the Student Commission team will also operate the FICS Mentoring Program, which pairs students with practicing sports chiropractors in order to give them hands-on knowledge and practice through small groups. This is close to Dr. Wilhelm’s heart because early in his chiropractic career he had the benefit of being mentored by several sports chiropractors who showed him the ropes. different student clubs for FICS; thus broadening the student’s chiropractic horizon. When accepting the Chair position, Dr. Wilhelm shared the following with FICS Leadership:

“Thank you for your kind words of welcome and well wishes. I am grateful to have been invited into the role and am quite excited to expand my efforts with FICS.I sincerely appreciate (Previous Directors) Gillian and Bronwyn! The work they have collectively done with the Student Commission in the past few years is monumental. These ladies literally carved this Commission out of nothing. They built a stellar team and have nicely organized their processes. I am so thankful to them for their help and support thus far, and I will continue to lean on them and their expertise. I am now counted in the company of some most excellent professionals. I respect your individual and collective work and leadership on behalf of sports chiropractic, and I
humbly throw my efforts in with you.”  He continued, “I believe it is more than cliché to say that the students are the future of FICS, for they are the very ones who will volunteer, work the events, fill the leadership roles, and carry the flag for FICS in the near future. It is my intention, together with a diverse, vibrant and empowered team on the Student Commission to grow FICS ever stronger from it’s very roots upward!”

Dr. Wilhelm is excited to begin his tenure as the FICS’s Chair of the Student Commission and start mentoring the sports chiropractors of tomorrow. He plans to use his experience and knowledge tohelp guide students in their studies and future careers and to also give back to the educational side of the sports chiropractic community.
