Buffett is the chairman, CEO and largest shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway and is consistently ranked among the world’s wealthiest people. He was ranked as the world’s wealthiest person in 2008 and as the third wealthiest behind Carlos Slim and Bill Gates in 2013, and in 2012, American magazine Time named Buffett one of the most influential people in the world.

Buffett is called the “Wizard of Omaha”, “Oracle of Omaha”, or the “Sage of Omaha” and is noted for his adherence to the value investing philosophy and for his frugality despite his immense wealth. Buffett is also a notable philanthropist, having pledged to give away 99 percent of his fortune to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, established by Bill Gates.

Buffett was born in 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska. He developed an interest in business and investing in his youth, eventually entering the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1947 before transferring and graduating from the University of Nebraska at 20. He graduated from Columbia Business School, where he molded his investment philosophy around value investing. Benjamin Graham pioneered that.

He attended the New York Institute of Finance to focus his economics background and began various business partnerships soon after, including one with Graham. He created Buffett Partnership, Ltd in 1956, and his early mentor was a man named Benjamin Graham, an economics professor at Columbia University.

It is the world’s second-largest mobile phone manufacturer after Samsung, and it has been listed as the world’s largest cloud services provider since 2009.

Microsoft Corp. develops and markets computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and services designed to assist its customers. Inc (AMZN):

It is an American multinational technology company based in Seattle, Washington, focusing on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. Its best-known product is the Amazon Kindle e-book reader.

Amazon has separate retail websites for the United States, United Kingdom & Ireland, France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Australia, Brazil, Japan, China, India, and Mexico. Amazon also offers international shipping of some of its products to certain other countries.

Amazon is the largest internet retailer globally as measured by revenue and market capitalization and second largest after Alibaba Group in terms of total sales. In 2017, Amazon surpassed Walmart as the most valuable retailer in the United States by market capitalization.

In 2018, Amazon acquired Whole Foods Market for $13.4 billion, vastly increasing Amazon’s presence as a brick-and-mortar retailer. Some interpreted the acquisition as a direct attempt to challenge Walmart’s traditional retail stores.

Amazon is the fourth most valuable public company after Apple, Alphabet and Microsoft. It is the largest Internet company by revenue globally and the eighth largest employer in the United States.
